In the spring of 2022, The Monroe Institute in West Virginia, USA, ran an experiential course called Creation Station. The purpose was to give creative people the opportunity to use Monroe Sound Science (the most advanced brain entrainment technology available) to enhance their creativity. Ten artists from around the world were invited and I was very blessed to be one of them!

Over the course of a week, we listened to various audios containing brain entrainment tones. Each practice session began with a brief introduction in a group meeting, followed by an audio meditation in our own private space, a CHEC unit (Controlled Holistic Environmental Chamber). Afterwards, we would return as a group to discuss the effects.

In one introduction session, the facilitator, Robert, described a dance track he had once heard that put him in an enlightened state. Suddenly, he looked at me and asked if I could replicate this experience for him. No small task! I said I’d do my best and parked the idea at the back of my mind.

Later, we went to our CHEC units for a meditation. Unlike previous sessions, the participants had requested to remove the background music so we could hear only the entrainment tones. I actually fell asleep, but when I awoke, the track for Robert appeared in my mind in its entirety.

I instantly knew it would contain a bluesy guitar, followed by a progressive trance section with vocal sounds and a few lyrics and then didgeridoos! It was highly unusual, but the auditory ‘vision’ was incredibly clear. (I also received an equation, but that’s a story for another time!)

I reported this with the group and Robert immediately asked what I needed to create the track. I told him I wanted to work in the nearby forest. Robert, who is the most “can-do” gentleman I’ve ever met, set me up with the longest extension cable I had ever seen, a table, and, when it started raining, a large umbrella.

There, I recorded the vocals and began producing the track.

By incredible luck, the legendary American rock guitarist Andrew Reed (Andrew Reed & The Liberation) was also on the course. He played me some stunning blues guitar and by the time the course ended, the piece was three-quarters finished.

Shelia then showed me a photo she had taken of a large crystal rock that sits at the grounds of the institute. I had a beautiful glow to it. Suddenly, I knew I must get her number. I asked if she could send me the photo and the connection was made.

Several months later, I still hadn’t finished Robert’s track. I wanted to redo the vocals and mix and master it, but insecurities led to procrastination. I’ve always struggled with my singing voice, constantly hoping I could do better. To push myself forward, I decided to send it to Bob Holbrook, the TMI engineer, so he could add Monroe Sound Science tones. Bob added the tones, but what he didn’t tell me was that he then played the track in a Monroe program where they test audios with entrainment tones using EEG machines and other technology!

Initially, I was mortified that he had played something unfinished. But then Bob messaged me to say the response had been overwhelmingly positive! He told me people were jumping out of their CHEC units to dance and feeling energised in unexpected ways. One woman, in particular, had had a very profound experience.

When I received this news, I was with my partner Laura, trekking the Himalayas, in Nepal. Further up the mountain, with virtually no phone signal I suddenly received a voice-note from Shelia (the lady from the minibus) but I couldn’t hear it because the signal was too week to download it.

She then sent a text saying “When you help me (and you did) , I get to help around 2,000 people ….. Have you ever heard the saying that one person makes a difference ……you made a difference”

At first, I didn’t know she was referring to, but later when I heard her voice-note, I realised that she was the lady who Bob had spoken of who had the profound experience! Shelia told me that she sometimes gets synesthesia at live events, but the track I made for Robert was the first recorded piece of music that had ever given her this experience. She told me that on hearing it, something popped within her and it changed her life forever!

Just before receiving this message I had felt a little down about how hard it is to get my music and that and so this was the most incredibly wonderful thing to hear! A beautiful reminder, that even if you can touch just one person, it can have a ripple effect that could help many more.

I then sent Shelia a photo of my partner Laura and I on the mountain and thanked her for this amazing message. Shortly after Sheila offered to fund Laura and I to come back to Monroe and take the legendary Gateway Course. I was blown away. This offer was super generous and to also invite my partner was something else! Shelia only knew of Laura through the picture I had sent. Sheila felt that the experience would be more powerful for the two of us, and she was right!

After we completed the course, Shelia and Craig, offered to support us both in our personal developments going forward in whatever form that might take, irrespective of our financial situation!

I can’t really explain what this gesture has done for me, but I will try:

– I have found my calling; to channel and create tracks that expand consciousness.

– I have received incredible training in brain entrainment. As someone who has been studying music and consciousness for a lifetime, this has added immense new depths to my creations. It has fundamentally changed the way I write music.

– I have an on-going relationship with The Monroe Institute; creating music with their latest brain entrainment tech to encourage desired brain states.

– I am working with other amazing organisations that create brain entrainment technology using other senses such as light, spacial geometry and haptic feedback.

– Shelia and Craig gave me the gift of friendship with two of the most vibrant, loving, fun humans I know. They are mentors on how to live a most exquisite, generous, abundant life, filled with incredible energy. Shelia and Craig pretty much blow my mind on a daily basis!

I truly believe the only reason I heard my intuition to get on that minibus was because of a week of meditating with Monroe’s mind-expanding brain entrainment. It was certainly the reason I heard Robert’s track, which has opened so many doors and continues to give and give in so many ways I would have to write another article on it!

A year later, I finally played the finished track to Robert. He told me it gave him the exact enlightened feeling he had asked for—a sense of transcendence.
